A worn or damaged sleeve causes driveline vibration and can lead to spline stripping on the shaft ends. The sleeve is machined to match the original spline geometry, so the shaft sections engage fully without excessive backlash. On reinstallation, ensure the retaining clips or bolts are seated correctly and the sleeve is fully engaged over both shaft splines before applying torque.
