This bolt and nut assembly secures the plow share to the frog or shin on a reversible or semi-mounted plow. It passes through the share’s countersunk hole and threads into the frog, clamping the share against the wear plate. The hardness class 10.9 rating indicates the bolt is heat-treated to withstand the high shear and tensile loads generated during soil penetration and turning. A loose or broken share bolt allows the share to shift or detach, causing uneven furrow depth and risking damage to the frog or moldboard. On reinstallation, clean the threaded hole in the frog and torque the bolt to the manufacturer’s specification to maintain clamp force.
