This bolt and nut assembly secures the plow share to the frog or leg of the plow body. It passes through the share and threads into the frog, clamping the share against the mounting face. The hardness class 10.9 rating indicates the bolt is heat-treated to withstand the high shear and impact loads generated during soil penetration. A worn or loose share bolt allows the share to shift, which changes the furrow profile and increases draft force. On reinstallation, clean the bolt hole and the mating surfaces, then tighten the nut to the specified torque.
