This taper ring mounts on the threshing mechanism shaft, where it seats the rotating assembly and maintains axial alignment under load. It transmits clamping force from the hub nut to the inner race of the bearing pack, preventing axial play that would allow the threshing drum to drift. A worn or deformed ring permits shaft wobble, which accelerates bearing wear and causes uneven threshing clearance. The ring is machined to the same taper angle as the original hub bore so that full face contact is achieved without shimming. On reinstallation, clean the mating surfaces and tighten the hub nut to the specified torque.
