This plow bolt with a captive nut secures the share or moldboard to the frog of the plow body. The double-beveled cone head seats flush in the countersunk hole of the wearing part, preventing the bolt from turning during operation. The 10.9 hardness class indicates the fastener is heat-treated to a tensile strength suitable for the high shear loads and impact forces encountered in tillage. A loose or worn bolt allows the share to shift, leading to uneven furrow depth and accelerated wear on the mounting hole. On reinstallation, clean the countersink and torque the nut to the specified value for the thread size.
