Loctite 5900 is a high-performance, non-corrosive, low-odor silicone sealing compound designed for flexible flange sealing. This thixotropic, black, single-component RTV silicone cures on exposure to moisture in the air to form a tough, flexible rubber gasket. It is ideal for applications requiring good oil resistance and the ability to withstand high joint movement. The product offers excellent adhesion to various substrates and can fill gaps up to 1 mm. It is commonly used for sealing stamped sheet metal covers (e.g., timing chain covers, oil sumps) where good oil resistance and high joint movement are required. Supplied in a 300ml cartridge, it has a skin-over time of 30 minutes and can withstand temperatures from -55°C to +200°C (intermittently up to +250°C).
