This external air filter element removes airborne particulate from the intake stream before it reaches the engine combustion chamber. It is installed in the housing on the engine air intake system, positioned upstream of the intake manifold and turbocharger inlet. A clogged element restricts airflow, causing a drop in manifold pressure that reduces power output and increases fuel consumption. The manufacturer constructs the filter media to the same pleat geometry and sealing surface dimensions as the original assembly, ensuring the housing lid closes fully and the gasket seats without leakage. On replacement, inspect the housing interior for debris and confirm the seal surface is clean before installing the new element.
