As the filter loads with contaminant, intake restriction rises; a clogged element reduces engine power and increases fuel consumption. The manufacturer matches the original seal geometry so the element seats correctly in the housing groove, preventing bypass leakage. Replace the element at the interval specified for the host machine, and inspect the housing seal for damage during reinstallation.
