This hydraulic oil filter removes particulate from the transmission and hydraulic circuit before fluid reaches the high-pressure pump and control valves. It sits in the filter housing on the return side of the loop; trapped debris protects the piston pumps, motors, and clutch packs from abrasive wear. A clogged element forces the bypass valve open, sending unfiltered oil downstream and accelerating internal leakage. The manufacturer machines the filter media and bypass-valve cracking pressure to match the original housing geometry, so a fresh element restores proper flow restriction and filtration efficiency. On reinstall, ensure the housing seal is replaced and the cap is torqued to specification.
