This engine oil filter removes contaminants from the lubricating oil before it circulates through the engine bearings, turbocharger, and valve train. It mounts on the engine block and receives oil from the pump; the filter media traps wear particles and combustion byproducts that would otherwise cause abrasive damage to internal surfaces. A restricted filter reduces oil flow and can lead to low oil pressure at idle or under load, accelerating bearing wear. Mann-Filter manufactures this replacement element to match the original housing’s sealing geometry and bypass-valve cracking pressure, so the filter maintains proper flow regulation throughout its service interval. On installation, lubricate the new gasket with clean oil and tighten the housing to the specified torque.
