Mann Filter - W940 - Oil Filter

This engine oil filter removes particulate and combustion byproducts from the engine oil before it circulates through the bearings, turbocharger, and other lubricated components. It mounts to the filter head on the engine block; a bypass valve in the filter head opens if the filter becomes restricted, allowing oil to flow unfiltered to protect the engine from oil starvation. A clogged filter causes the bypass valve to open, sending unfiltered oil through the engine and accelerating wear on the crankshaft and connecting-rod bearings. The filter uses a thread size that matches the original filter head, so no adapter is needed. On installation, lightly lubricate the gasket with clean engine oil and tighten by hand until the gasket contacts the sealing surface, then rotate an additional three-quarters of a turn.
