This fuel filter removes particulate and water from the fuel supply before it reaches the injection system. It is installed in the fuel line between the tank and the high-pressure pump. A clogged filter restricts fuel flow, causing the engine to lose power or stall under load. When replacing, drain the water separator bowl and prime the system after installation to purge air from the fuel lines.
