This fuel filter with an integrated water separator removes particulate and separates free water from the fuel stream before it reaches the injection system. It mounts in the fuel line between the tank and the high-pressure pump, where the water-separating element coalesces droplets and directs them to the sump at the base of the housing. A clogged filter or a full water-collection bowl restricts fuel flow, causing hard starting and power loss under load. The separator bowl should be drained at the interval specified for the host machine, and the filter element replaced when the service indicator shows restriction. The manufacturer machines the sealing surfaces to match the housing bore, ensuring the bypass valve seats correctly and no unfiltered fuel bypasses the element.
