This component is a mechanical stop or limiter for the seed drill's metering or depth-control system. It restricts the range of motion of a linked arm or shaft, preventing over-travel that could misalign the seed placement mechanism. When the stop wears or deforms, the metering assembly can drift out of its calibrated position, leading to uneven seed spacing or inconsistent sowing depth. The manufacturer machines this stop to the original geometry so that it engages the mating surface at the correct angle, maintaining the factory-set travel limit without requiring shimming or adjustment.
