This tension spring applies a controlled pulling force between two attachment points in the seed drill's metering or drive linkage. It returns a pivoting component to its rest position after actuation, maintaining consistent tension in the connecting rod or chain. A spring that loses its preload or takes a set causes slack in the linkage, leading to intermittent seed metering or delayed response from the driven element. This original spring is manufactured to the same free length, wire diameter, and coil count as the original assembly, so the installed tension matches the design specification without requiring shims or adjusters.
