This reinforced subsoiler chisel is the wear component that fractures compacted soil layers at depth. It mounts to the lower end of the tine assembly, where its hardened tip engages the soil before the shank body widens the fissure. The chisel features a tungsten-carbide insert on its leading edge. This insert resists abrasion from stones and sand, maintaining a sharp cutting profile longer than a plain steel tip. A worn or blunted chisel increases draft force and leaves unbroken soil pans, reducing water infiltration and root penetration. The shank body is forged to match the original geometry of the host subsoiler frame. This preserves the tine’s working angle and the preset depth of the following tine. When replacing, inspect the mounting bolt and torque it to the implement manufacturer’s specification.
