This gear drives the tensioner mechanism that maintains proper belt or chain tension on the seed-metering drive system of the parent seeder. It transfers rotational force from the drive shaft to the tensioner arm, keeping the belt or chain at the correct operating tension for consistent seed delivery. A worn or damaged gear allows the tensioner to slip, causing belt or chain slack that leads to irregular metering and seed placement errors. This component is machined to the original tooth profile and pitch diameter, so it engages the mating sprocket or pulley without requiring shimming or adjustment.
