This ball bearing is a single-row, deep-groove radial bearing with integral rubber seals on both sides. It is designed for the rotating shafts and spindles found in seeding equipment, where it supports the radial load from the metering or drive mechanism. The seals keep lubricating grease in and prevent fine soil particles and dust from entering the raceway. A worn or contaminated bearing produces rough rotation and increased drag, which can lead to inconsistent seed metering. The manufacturer machines the inner and outer rings to the same tolerances as the original assembly, so no shimming or housing modification is needed during replacement.
