This gas spring provides controlled lifting force for the hood of the host tractor. It is a sealed strut containing pressurized nitrogen and hydraulic oil; the gas charge pushes the piston rod outward to assist in raising the hood and holds it in the open position. Over time, the internal seal can lose its charge, causing the hood to sag or drop unexpectedly. The spring rate and extended length match the original assembly geometry so that the hood's pivot points and latch alignment are preserved. When replacing, ensure the ball-socket ends are fully seated in their brackets and that the rod extends freely without binding.
