This engine rocker gasket seals the interface between the rocker arm cover and the cylinder head, preventing oil leakage from the valvetrain area. It sits along the top of the engine, directly above the valve springs and pushrods, where it contains pressurized oil that lubricates the rocker arms. A degraded gasket allows oil to weep externally, which can lead to low oil pressure at the rocker shaft and increased valvetrain noise. The gasket is formed to match the cover's flange profile, ensuring even clamping force when the cover bolts are torqued to specification. On reinstallation, clean both sealing surfaces thoroughly and replace the gasket to maintain a leak-free seal.
