This engine thermostat regulates coolant flow to maintain the engine within its designed operating temperature range. It is installed in the coolant circuit between the engine block and the radiator, opening at its rated temperature to allow circulation and closing to speed warm-up. A stuck-closed thermostat causes rapid overheating, while a stuck-open unit prevents the engine from reaching normal operating temperature, reducing efficiency and increasing wear. As an original AGCO component, the thermostat uses a wax-pellet element calibrated to the same response curve as the original assembly, ensuring consistent opening and closing behavior. On replacement, drain the coolant below the thermostat housing level and replace the housing gasket.
