This hood cap seals the opening in the tractor's hood panel where the latch or hinge mechanism passes through. It prevents debris, moisture, and dust from entering the engine bay through that aperture. The cap is molded to match the contour of the hood panel so it sits flush with the surrounding surface. A missing or damaged cap leaves the opening exposed, which can allow contaminants to reach the latch assembly and accelerate corrosion.
