It absorbs the axial and radial loads transmitted between the tractor and the towed implement during operation. A worn or elongated insert allows excessive pin movement, leading to clattering, accelerated pin wear, and misalignment of the drawbar. The original part is machined to the same internal and external diameters as the factory assembly, so the pin fits without free play and the insert seats fully into the housing without shimming. On replacement, inspect the housing bore for ovality and clean the seating area before pressing the new insert into place.
