This transmission breather vents pressure from the gearbox and hydraulic system housing, preventing seal damage and fluid contamination. It is mounted on the top of the transmission case and allows air to pass in and out as internal temperature and oil level change. A blocked breather causes pressure buildup that can force oil past seals, leading to external leaks and reduced system efficiency. This original component is manufactured to the same internal flow-path geometry as the original assembly, so it maintains the correct cracking pressure for the vent valve. On replacement, ensure the mounting hole is clean and the breather is fully seated to avoid an air leak.
