This AdBlue tank stores the diesel exhaust fluid that is injected into the exhaust stream upstream of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) module. It serves as the reservoir for the fluid delivery system, supplying the pump that meters fluid into the decomposition reactor. A leak or crack in the tank allows air into the feed line, causing the pump to lose prime and triggering a derate condition in the engine management system. The tank is molded to match the original mounting points and filler neck geometry of the host vehicle, so no bracket modifications are needed during replacement.
