This spin-on fuel filter removes particulate and water from the fuel supply before it reaches the injection pump. It is installed in the fuel line between the tank and the high-pressure pump, protecting the injectors and pump internals from abrasive contaminants. A restricted filter reduces fuel flow, causing hard starting and power loss under load. The original filter matches the housing thread and seal geometry so no adapter is needed. On replacement, ensure the sealing surface is clean and tighten the filter by hand until the gasket contacts the housing, then advance an additional three-quarters of a turn.
