This rubber connector sits in the intake system between the air cleaner outlet and the turbocharger or intake manifold. It seals the joint against unfiltered air ingress and absorbs vibration transmitted from the engine to the rigid ductwork. A cracked or softened connector allows dust bypass into the combustion chamber, accelerating ring and valve wear. The original part is molded to match the hose-bead geometry of the adjoining ducts, so the clamp seats correctly without distorting the rubber. On reinstall, ensure the connector is fully seated over both spigots before tightening the clamps to the specified torque.
