A failed pump typically produces coolant leaks from the weep hole, bearing noise, or engine overheating. This component is manufactured to the original geometry and seal interface specifications, so it seats correctly against the timing cover without additional gaskets or shims. On installation, replace the gasket between the pump and the block, and torque the mounting bolts to the specified value.
