This water pump gasket seals the joint between the water pump housing and the engine block, preventing coolant leakage from the cooling circuit. A degraded or improperly seated gasket allows coolant to escape, leading to air ingress, localized hot spots, and eventual overheating. The gasket is manufactured to the original geometry, matching the seal groove and bolt pattern of the housing so no additional sealant is required during installation. On reinstall, clean both mating surfaces thoroughly and torque the pump mounting bolts to specification.
