This front cover seal ring sits between the engine front cover and its mating surface, preventing oil leakage from the timing-gear or front-crank area. It is an original AGCO component, machined to the same cross-section profile as the original seal groove so that the rubber element compresses evenly against the housing bore. A worn or hardened seal allows oil to weep past the front cover, which can lead to belt contamination and gradual oil loss. On reinstallation, clean the groove thoroughly and seat the ring without twisting; the cover bolts should be torqued to the specification for the engine family.
