This oil seal is installed on the front axle of the host tractor. It prevents lubricant leakage from the axle housing and blocks contaminants from entering the bearing cavity. A worn seal will allow oil to weep past the lip, leading to a drop in lubricant level and eventual bearing damage. As an original-manufacturer component, the seal is molded to the correct lip profile and spring tension for the housing bore, which maintains the proper interference fit without requiring shimming or adapters. Replace the seal whenever the axle hub or steering knuckle is serviced. Clean the bore thoroughly before installation and press the seal in squarely to avoid lip distortion.
