This bushing sets the engagement position of the straw-walker drive on the parent combine. It fits between the drive shaft and the surrounding housing, controlling the axial clearance that determines how the drive coupling engages. A worn bushing allows excessive end float, which can cause the drive to disengage under load or produce a knocking noise during operation. The bushing is machined to match the original shaft and bore tolerances, so no shimming is required during installation. On reinstall, verify that the drive rotates freely before locking the retaining hardware.
