This tension wheel guides and tensions the chain that drives the grain-unloading auger inside the combine's discharge tube. It is mounted on the tensioner arm, where its sprocket engages the chain loop to maintain proper slack and prevent skipping during high-volume grain transfer. A worn or seized tension wheel causes chain chatter, uneven auger speed, and increased wear on both the chain and the sprockets. As an original-manufacturer component, it is cast to the same tooth profile and bore dimensions as the assembly it replaces, so the chain pitch and tensioner travel remain within the original design range.
