This rod connects the Vario or Dyna-VT transmission housing to the chassis mount, serving as the upper link in the transmission suspension assembly. It positions the gearbox within the frame and maintains alignment between the engine output and the input shaft. A worn or bent rod allows the transmission to shift out of alignment, causing driveline vibration and accelerated bearing wear. This original part is machined to match the new bushing design, which has a different bore geometry than the earlier version; the rod will not seat correctly in the old bushing. When replacing the transmission, transfer the rod from the old unit unless the service procedure specifies otherwise.
