This O-ring seals the oil pump outlet port within the hydraulic system of the host tractor. It prevents pressurized oil from leaking past the pump housing, which would reduce flow to the hydraulic circuits and cause a pressure drop at the implement valves. The manufacturer machines this ring to the original cross-section profile so it seats fully in the pump's gland groove without being pinched or rolled during installation. A degraded or hardened O-ring allows external seepage and internal bypass, leading to sluggish implement response and eventual pump cavitation. On reinstall, ensure the groove is clean and dry, and lubricate the ring with clean hydraulic fluid before seating.
