This fuel injector delivers a metered quantity of fuel into the combustion chamber at the pressure and timing commanded by the engine control unit. It is a common-rail injector of the CRIN2-16 type, installed in the cylinder head of the host engine. The injector receives high-pressure fuel from the common rail and opens its nozzle when the solenoid is energized; the precise spray pattern and injection rate are determined by the internal hydraulic servo circuit and the nozzle geometry. A worn or sticking injector causes misfire, power loss, and increased particulate emissions. The manufacturer’s production process controls the internal clearances and the solenoid response time so that the injector matches the original calibration curve, which the engine management system relies on for correct injection timing and quantity. On replacement, clean the injector bore in the cylinder head and install new sealing washers and copper gaskets.
