New Holland 10005 – Front Suspension Controller or Suspension/EDC (Electronic Draft Control) processor: Front Axle Potentiometer Signal Below Threshold
Issue description
The signal voltage from the front axle potentiometer is below the minimum expected value. The electronic control module has registered that the sensor's output is either an open circuit or has fallen below a pre-defined threshold, indicating a fault in the sensor or its wiring. This potentiometer is a critical sensor that provides position feedback to the tractor's hydraulic control system, allowing it to determine the height and articulation of the front axle for automatic suspension adjustments.

Check the cause
Access the 'H' diagnostic menus on the instrument cluster to view live sensor data and perform calibrations.
Check for other active or stored fault codes that could be related, such as codes for the sensor power supply.
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the front axle potentiometer for signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections from the sensor to the control module.
Verify the sensor signal during the front suspension calibration routine (often 'H1' mode). If the reading on the display is less than 240, the potentiometer is likely faulty.
Using a multimeter, verify that the potentiometer is receiving the correct voltage on its power supply wire, has a solid connection to ground, and that the signal wire is not shorted to power.
Repair steps
Disconnect the battery
Before starting any electrical work, disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent short circuits.
Remove the faulty potentiometer
Locate the potentiometer on the front axle assembly, where it is mechanically linked to measure the axle's vertical movement. Disconnect the electrical connector and unbolt the sensor from its mounting.
Install the new potentiometer
Clean the mounting area to ensure a good connection and proper grounding. Bolt the new potentiometer in place and securely connect the wiring harness. Apply dielectric grease to the connector pins to prevent future corrosion.
Reconnect the battery
Once the new part is installed, reconnect the tractor's battery.
Perform suspension calibration
Connect the diagnostic tool and enter the 'H' menu. Select the front suspension calibration routine. Set the engine to the specified speed (typically around 1200 RPM) and follow the on-screen prompts to guide the system through its full range of motion. Once the display indicates 'END', turn the key off to store the new minimum and maximum position values in the controller's memory.
