New Holland 10015 – Front Suspension: Lock Valve Solenoid Circuit Issue

Issue description

The Front Suspension Lock Valve Solenoid is experiencing an open circuit or a short to ground. This electrical fault prevents the solenoid from being energized or de-energized correctly by the control module, which can lead to the front suspension being stuck in a locked or unlocked state.

Applies to these machines

  • T6 Series
  • T7 Series
  • T7.220
  • T7.235
  • T7.290
  • T7.315

  • T8.300
  • T8.320
  • T8.330
  • T8.350
  • T8.360
  • T8.380

  • T8.410
  • T8.420
  • T8.435
  • TM Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the front suspension lock valve solenoid for chafing, rubbing, breaks, or corrosion (a common issue is wiring rubbing through and shorting to the chassis ground).

  2. Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the suspension or hydraulic systems.

  3. Disconnect the electrical connector at the solenoid and inspect pins and sockets for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damage. Clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner and ensure a secure connection.

  4. With the solenoid disconnected, use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil to check for an open circuit (infinite resistance) or a dead short (zero or near-zero resistance).

  5. Perform a voltage test at the solenoid connector with the key on and suspension activated to verify control module output.

  6. Check for other active fault codes, such as low voltage supply (e.g., 10022) or radar/speed sensor issues, which could cause the suspension to lock as a default action.

Repair steps

  1. Prepare machine for service

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and chock the wheels.

  2. Locate the solenoid

Locate the front suspension control valve assembly, typically on the right-hand side of the tractor's frame. Identify the lock valve solenoid on this valve block.

  3. Remove the faulty solenoid

Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut holding the solenoid to the valve body and slide the coil off the valve stem.

  4. Clean and inspect the valve

Clean the mounting surface on the valve body. Verify that the valve plunger moves freely, as a sticking valve can cause the new solenoid coil to burn out.

  5. Install the new solenoid

Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and ensure it is seated correctly. Reinstall the retaining nut and tighten to manufacturer specifications without overtightening, as this can damage the coil.

  6. Reconnect wiring

Apply dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent moisture intrusion and reconnect it, ensuring it clicks into place.

  7. Clear codes and calibrate

Start the tractor, use the diagnostic interface to clear fault codes, and perform a front suspension system calibration if required by the specific model. Test operation.
