New Holland 1016 – Hitch Controller, Armrest Controller, ATC (Alta Implement) Controller, EDC (Electronic Draft Control), or Hydraulic Lift Controller: Not implemented / L/H load sensing pin signal too low
Issue description
This fault code has two definitions depending on the model and controller. 'Not implemented': The controller is receiving a command or signal over the CAN data bus for a feature or sensor that is not installed or configured. 'L/H load sensing pin signal too low': The electronic draft control system detects that the signal voltage from the Left-Hand draft load sensing pin has dropped below the acceptable range, indicating a short to ground, open circuit, or internal failure.

Check the cause
If diagnosing L/H load sensing pin (most common cause): Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the left-hand lower link draft pin for physical damage, broken wires, or corrosion.
If diagnosing L/H load sensing pin: Use a multimeter to check the reference voltage (usually 5V or 8V depending on the model) at the sensor connector.
If diagnosing L/H load sensing pin: Swap the left and right load sensing pins (if identical) to see if the code changes to 1014/1015 (Right-Hand pin codes). If the code moves, the pin is internally failed.
If diagnosing 'Not implemented' software issue: Verify the software configuration on the Universal Display and Armrest controller. Ensure the implement settings match the physical hardware connected to the tractor.
If diagnosing 'Not implemented' software issue: Check for corrupted calibration values in the Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and ensure no optional controllers are missing or disconnected from the CAN bus.
Repair steps
Lower the 3-point hitch
For a Failed Load Sensing Pin: Lower the 3-point hitch to the ground to relieve all pressure from the lower link arms.
Disconnect electrical harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the left-hand draft pin.
Remove retaining hardware
Remove the retaining bolt/snap ring holding the draft pin in the lower link bracket.
Remove old pin
Drive the old pin out. Note: If the wiring is broken flush at the base of the pin, it cannot be spliced and the pin must be replaced.
Install new pin
Install the new OEM load sensing pin and secure the retaining hardware.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Perform autocalibration
Crucial Final Step: Perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration routine. The system will often prompt you to do this by displaying fault code 1024 after a component replacement.
Install elimination kit (Alternative)
Alternative Repair: If draft control is not used, install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit. This plugs into the harness to trick the EDC into reading a normal load, permanently clearing the 1016 code and disabling draft sensing.
Access display monitor
For a Software/Configuration Issue ('Not implemented'): Access the tractor's display monitor and navigate to the implement/hitch configuration settings.
Disable uninstalled sensors
Disable any draft pin sensors or auxiliary hydraulic functions that are not physically installed on the machine.
Re-flash controller
If the code persists, a dealer may need to re-flash the Armrest or Hitch controller to clear corrupted CAN bus memory.
