Issue description
The controller is receiving an out-of-range, invalid, or conflicting upper limit signal over the CAN data bus. This typically points to a failed hitch position sensor/potentiometer, a wiring harness issue, or a communication failure between the Armrest Controller Module (ACM) and the main Hitch Controller.

Check the cause
Inspect the external wiring harness and connectors between the hitch position sensors, the armrest controller, and the main hitch controller for damaged wires, loose connectors, or bent pins.
Verify if there are other related CAN bus codes present (such as 1011, 1012, or 1018) to rule out a broader CAN bus or harness failure.
Test the upper limit potentiometer / hitch rockshaft position sensor function to see if it is sending an erratic or out-of-range signal.
Check the armrest controller for internal failures, such as a failed power supply or failed internal signal sensing.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If diagnostic checks reveal damaged wiring or bent pins in the CAN bus circuit between the hitch position sensors and the armrest controller, repair or replace the affected harness section.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the upper limit signal remains out of range, replace the faulty hitch position sensor / potentiometer.
Replace the Controller
If the sensor and wiring test good, the fault likely lies within the Armrest Controller Module (ACM) failing to process or send the signal correctly. Replace the ACM.
Calibrate the Hitch
After replacing any hitch components or sensors, you must perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration (often associated with code 1024) to teach the system the new upper and lower limits.
Clear Codes
Use a diagnostic tool (such as the New Holland Electronic Service Tool or Jaltest) to clear the DTCs from the ECU and verify the code does not return during operation.
