New Holland 1022 – CCH (Central Controller Hitch) / TMF: Single draft pin sensor failed when configured for one draft pin sensor.(CCH Only)

Issue description

The tractor's electronic draft control (EDC) system has lost a valid signal from the draft pin sensor. The voltage signal dropped out of the normal operating range (due to an open circuit, short circuit, or internal sensor failure), causing the controller to disable draft control functions.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading down to the lower links of the 3-point hitch for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or debris damage.

  2. Disconnect the draft pin sensor and check for moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins inside the connector.

  3. Using a multimeter, test the 3-pin connector on the machine side (Key ON, Engine OFF): Pin C should have a 5V reference, Pin A should have continuity to ground, and Pin B should have continuity to the CCH module without being shorted to ground or power.

  4. Verify in the tractor's display monitor that the hitch is still correctly configured for a Single draft pin and hasn't suffered a software glitch expecting Two pins.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Load

    Lower the 3-point hitch completely to the ground to remove all physical tension and weight from the lower link draft pins.

  2. Disconnect Power

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  3. Remove the Sensor

    Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the faulty draft pin. Remove the retaining hardware (usually a locking bolt or heavy snap ring) securing the pin to the hitch bracket.

  4. Extract the Pin

    Slide the old draft pin out. If it is seized, use penetrating oil and a brass drift to tap it out carefully.

  5. Clean the Bore

    Thoroughly clean the mounting bore with a wire brush or emery cloth to ensure the new sensor pin slides in without binding.

  6. Install the New Sensor

    Insert the new draft pin sensor, ensuring the alignment notch/flat is positioned correctly. Secure it with the retaining hardware.

  7. Reconnect

    Plug in the electrical connector and reconnect the battery.

  8. Calibration

    Turn the key ON. You must perform a 3-point hitch / EDC calibration via the in-cab monitor or dealer service tool. This allows the CCH to learn the new sensor's zero-load baseline voltage.
