New Holland 1030 – Hitch Controller: Right draft pin voltage is outside the normal operating range. (CCH Only).
Issue description
The electronic draft sensing pin (load sensor) on the right side of the 3-point hitch is sending a voltage signal to the controller that falls outside the expected parameters. This typically indicates that the sensor has failed internally, or there is an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power in the wiring harness.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the right draft pin sensor and its wiring harness for visible physical damage, corrosion, or disconnected plugs.
Use a multimeter to test the wire harness for continuity, damaged wires, or shorts to ground/power between the pin connector and the hitch controller.
Check the sensor's voltage output to verify the baseline voltage for a 'no load' condition (often represented as a specific digital value like '48' in the controller's diagnostic menu).
Swap the left and right draft pin sensors. If the fault code changes to the left side (Code 1031), the sensor is definitively faulty. If the code remains 1030 on the right side, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the hitch controller itself.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Lower the 3-point hitch completely to the ground to relieve any mechanical pressure or binding on the draft pins.
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the right draft pin sensor. Remove the retaining hardware (bolts and the EDC pin cover) securing the right draft pin.
Extraction
Slide the faulty draft pin sensor out of the hitch linkage.
Installation
Clean the bore, install the new draft pin sensor, and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Reconnect the wiring harness and the battery.
Calibration
You must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure. The system needs to learn the new 'no load' voltage offset for the replacement pin. Failure to calibrate will result in the hitch not functioning and will trigger secondary calibration fault codes.
