1031

New Holland 1031 – CCH (Central Controller Hitch): Left draft pin voltage is outside the normal operating range. (CCH Only)

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the signal voltage from the left draft pin sensor (which measures the draft load on the lower link of the 3-point hitch) is not within the expected specifications for a "no load" or operating condition. This typically points to a failed sensor, an open circuit, or a short to ground/power in the sensor's wiring circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8.xxx Series
  • New Holland TG Series (e.g., TG255, TG275)
  • New Holland T6000, T7, and TM Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the left draft pin sensor for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  2. Use a multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5-volt reference and ground from the Hitch Controller.

  3. Check the signal wire for continuity from the sensor connector back to the CCH/Hitch Controller. Ensure the signal wire is not shorted to ground or to a 12V power source.

Repair steps

  1. Lower the 3-point hitch

Lower the 3-point hitch to the ground to relieve any tension or load on the lower link arms.

  2. Disconnect the battery

    Disconnect the tractor's battery.

  3. Unplug the wiring harness

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty left draft pin sensor.

  4. Remove retaining hardware

Remove the retaining hardware (such as snap rings, locking bolts, or retaining pins) that secures the draft pin to the tractor chassis and lower link arm.

  5. Remove faulty draft pin

Slide the faulty draft pin out of the housing.

  6. Install new draft pin

Install the new draft pin assembly, ensuring it is oriented correctly so the sensor connector aligns with the harness.

  7. Reinstall hardware and reconnect harness

Reinstall the retaining hardware and reconnect the wiring harness.

  8. Reconnect the battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  9. Perform Hitch Controller Calibration

You must perform the Hitch Controller Calibration procedure. If the system is not recalibrated after replacing a draft pin, the hitch will not operate correctly and may throw a secondary code (such as 9317: "The Hitch Controller Calibration procedure must be performed").
