The ground speed data is typically broadcast by the Transmission Controller (TCU) or a dedicated radar sensor, and the receiving module has detected that this data is corrupted or absent.

Check the cause

  1. Check for Accompanying Codes: Use a diagnostic tool to see if other speed sensor or CAN-related fault codes are present. Look specifically for wheel speed sensor codes (e.g., 1049 - Wheel speed sensor open circuit) or radar codes (e.g., 14021/14022 - Radar Ground speed short to VCC/Ground).

  2. Inspect Sensors: Check the physical condition of the transmission wheel speed sensor and/or the ground radar sensor. Look for physical damage, heavy debris buildup (especially on radar sensors), or loose mounting hardware.

  3. Harness and Connector Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness for the CAN bus (twisted pair wires) between the Hitch Controller, the Transmission Controller, and the speed sensors. Look for opens, shorts to ground, or corrosion at the connector pins.

  4. Verify Data Broadcast: Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the Transmission Controller is successfully reading and broadcasting the ground speed data to the rest of the network.

Repair steps

  1. Connect Diagnostic Tool

    Connect the CNH EST to the tractor's diagnostic port to read all active and logged fault codes.

  2. Address Source Sensor Failures
