Issue description
The Hitch controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing signal over the CAN data bus regarding the Slip Limit Set Point. This occurs when the armrest controller cannot read the potentiometer correctly due to an open circuit, short, or failed sensor, causing it to broadcast a failure condition to the hitch system.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring inside the armrest controller housing (e.g., connector SW202) for damaged wires, loose connectors, or bent pins.
Test the Slip Limit potentiometer/switch for continuity and smooth resistance changes across its operating range (Slip Select, Slip Set, and Off positions).
Check the reference voltage output from the armrest controller to the switch pin (should typically read 12 VDC or a 5V reference).
Simulate the input by shorting the signal wire to the return/ground pins and monitor the switch status on a service tool. If the controller registers the simulated input, the switch is faulty; if not, the Armrest Controller Module may have an internal failure.
