New Holland 1034 – Hitch Controller: Slip Enable switch received from CAN data bus indicates failure condition

The control system is receiving an invalid, missing, or out-of-range signal from the slip enable switch over the CAN data network, preventing the slip control system from functioning properly.

   Use an Electronic Service Tool (EST) or the tractor's diagnostic display to confirm if code 1034 is currently active or stored in the trouble history

   Inspect the Slip Enable switch on the armrest console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Slip Enable switch and the Arm Rest Module (ARU) for loose pins, corrosion, or damaged wires

   Verify that the Arm Rest Module (ARU) is communicating properly on the CAN bus, as the Hitch controller relies on the ARU to report the switch's status

   Connect diagnostic tool

   Connect the diagnostic service tool to the tractor to monitor the live status of the Slip Enable switch.

   Toggle switch

   Toggle the switch. If the state does not change on the diagnostic tool, proceed to test the switch hardware.

   Test switch continuity

   Disconnect the switch and test it for proper continuity/resistance.

   Replace switch

   If the switch fails the continuity test, replace the Slip Enable switch (or the integrated armrest switch pod, depending on the specific console assembly).

   Check wiring harness

   If the switch functions correctly, use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the switch and the ARU for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power. Repair any damaged wiring.

   Clear fault codes

   Reconnect all components, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic tool (or DTC Eraser) to clear the fault codes.
