New Holland 1065 – ARU (Arm Rest Unit / Armrest Control Module): The ARU specified tractor without draft control (position only hitch) but detected presence of draft pin(s).
Issue description
There is a mismatch between the tractor's software configuration and the hardware feedback it is receiving. The controller is programmed to believe the tractor is equipped with a basic 'position-only' hitch (no draft control). However, the system is detecting a voltage signal on the circuit designated for the electronic draft control (EDC) load-sensing pins, tricking the system into thinking draft pins are installed and active.

Check the cause
Verify Physical Configuration: Visually inspect the rear hitch of the tractor to determine if electronic draft control pins (load sensing pins) are actually installed, or if it is a standard position-only hitch.
Check ARU Software Configuration: If the tractor does have draft pins installed, the ARU software configuration is incorrect and is causing the mismatch.
Inspect Wiring and Connectors: If the tractor does not have draft pins, the ARU is receiving a false voltage signal. Inspect the rear hitch wiring harness (where the draft pins would normally plug in) for corrosion, moisture ingress, or a short-to-voltage that is sending a phantom signal to the ARU.
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the tractor's diagnostic port.
Address Configuration Mismatch (If draft pins are physically present)
Navigate to the ARU configuration settings. Change the hitch configuration from 'Position Only' to specify that draft control is installed. Save the configuration. Perform a full lower hitch and draft control calibration (Note: ensure engine RPM is sufficient, as low RPM will trigger a secondary 1066 code during calibration).
Address Wiring Faults (If draft pins are NOT present)
Disconnect the rear hitch wiring harness connectors. Use a multimeter to test the draft pin sensor circuits for a short to a 5-volt reference or 12-volt supply. Clean any moisture or corrosion out of the blanking plugs/connectors, as water can bridge the pins and create a false voltage reading. Repair any damaged or chafed wiring in the harness.
Clear Codes
Once the configuration is corrected or the wiring short is repaired, clear the fault codes in the ARU.
Test
Cycle the key switch and verify that fault code 1065 does not return.
