New Holland 18009 – ACM: Multi-function Lever - High Voltage
Issue description
The Armrest control module has detected that the voltage from the multi-function handle is above the expected maximum threshold. This indicates an abnormally high voltage on the signal wire from one of the handle's potentiometers, which is typically caused by a short circuit to a power source, an open ground circuit, or an internal failure of the handle itself.

Check the cause
Verify the active or stored fault code 18009 using the tractor's diagnostic display or the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST).
Visually inspect the wiring harness between the multi-function handle and the armrest controller for chafing, pinching, corrosion on connectors, or breaks.
Check for internal wire breaks by gently pulling on each wire near the connectors (a wire that feels stretchy may be broken internally).
Test the signal voltage from the multi-function handle at the armrest controller connector using a multimeter or EST (look for readings significantly above the 5 VDC reference).
Perform a CAN Bus network check using the EST to rule out faulty terminator resistors or CAN bus wiring shorts.
Repair steps
Isolate the fault
Disconnect the multi-function handle from the armrest harness and clear the fault codes. If code 18009 does not return immediately, the fault is likely within the handle itself. If it persists, the issue is in the wiring or controller.
Repair or replace wiring
If harness damage or internal wire breaks are found, repair the affected wires using appropriate connectors and heat shrink. If the armrest harness is extensively damaged, replace the entire harness.
Test with a known-good component
If available, substitute a functional multi-function handle to quickly verify if the original handle is the source of the fault.
Replace multi-function handle
If the handle is identified as the faulty component during isolation testing, replace it with the correct part for your specific transmission configuration.
Inspect and replace armrest controller
If the handle and wiring are good, the fault may lie within the armrest controller (e.g., shorted filter caps on inputs). If deemed faulty, replace the controller and program it to the tractor using the EST.
Clear codes and calibrate
After repairs are complete, clear all fault codes using the EST and perform any required recalibration of the armrest controls.
