New Holland 18041 – ACM: EHR 1 Lever Position - Increased Voltage
Issue description
The Armrest Control Module (ACM) has detected that the voltage from the position sensor (potentiometer) for the first electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) control lever is above the maximum expected threshold. This indicates an issue with the electrical signal, such as a short circuit to a power source or an open ground, or a failure of the potentiometer component itself. This fault prevents the system from accurately determining the operator's intended command for the remote valve.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to and within the armrest assembly for pinched, chafed, or broken wires near the base of the EHR lever and connectors.
Perform an EHR lever calibration through the instrument cluster display (diagnostic/service menu, 'H' routines) by moving the lever to neutral, full extend, and full retract to see if it resolves minor potentiometer deviations.
Use a CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor live voltage readings from the EHR 1 lever potentiometer (e.g., neutral should be around 550 mV, full raised near 910 mV). An abnormally high reading that does not correspond to physical position confirms the fault.
Run a Switch Test mode (e.g., H5 routine) to check the operation of individual switches and confirm the lever is sending a signal.
Repair steps
Safety First
Disconnect the battery before beginning any work on the electrical system.
Access the Armrest Internals
Disassemble the armrest to gain access to the EHR lever assemblies. This will typically involve removing screws and panels from the side or underside of the armrest console.
Identify the Faulty Component
Locate the EHR lever #1 and its associated potentiometer. The levers are usually arranged sequentially.
Disconnect and Remove
Disconnect the wiring connector from the potentiometer. Carefully remove the screws or retaining clips holding the potentiometer or the entire lever assembly in place.
Install the New Part
Install the new potentiometer, ensuring it is correctly seated. Reconnect the wiring harness.
Reassemble the Armrest
Reassemble the armrest panels and components.
Reconnect Power and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. After replacing the component, it is crucial to perform the EHR lever calibration procedure through the tractor's display to ensure the new part's voltage range is correctly recognized by the ACM.
