New Holland 18046 – ACM: EHR Float Control Switch Error
Issue description
The Armrest Control Module (ACM) has detected an electrical error related to the Electro-Hydraulic Remote (EHR) float control switch (also referred to as the side swing control switch). This indicates a malfunction or inconsistency in the operation of the switch or its associated circuitry, which prevents the engagement or disengagement of the float feature for the specific remote valve.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- T6 Series
- T6000
- T6.140-T6.180
- T7 Series
- T7000
- T7.170-T7.270
- T7.290 HD-T7.340 HD
- T8 Series
- T8.275-T8.435
- TSA Series
Check the cause
Visually inspect the EHR float control switch and its wiring harness for frayed wires, loose connections, or corrosion on the connectors
Check for loose connections at the switch connector and the main harness connections to the armrest controller (note: wires can break internally near the plug)
Test the continuity of the wiring between the switch and the armrest control module using a multimeter, checking for shorts to power or ground
Test switch functionality with a multimeter to verify continuity changes when the switch is activated and deactivated
Swap the switch with another identical switch on the armrest (if available) to determine if the fault lies with the switch itself or the wiring
Perform a lever calibration procedure through the tractor's diagnostic menu
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Disconnect the battery before starting any repair work to prevent electrical damage.
Access armrest internals
Remove the armrest top cover or side panels to access the switches and wiring. The process varies depending on the specific tractor model.
Locate and remove switch
Identify the specific EHR float control switch. Carefully disconnect the wiring harness and release any clips or retaining nuts to remove the old switch.
Install new switch
Place the new switch into the armrest, ensuring it is properly seated and secured, then reconnect the wiring harness.
Reassemble armrest
Reinstall any covers or panels that were removed to access the armrest internals.
Test and clear codes
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the 'on' position. Clear any stored fault codes using the tractor's diagnostic menu or a service tool. Operate the float control to ensure the new switch is functioning correctly.
Calibrate EHR
If required by the specific model or if other EHR functions seem incorrect, perform a calibration of the EHR levers and switches.
